Mackay Point

Mackay Point Plantation, 6000 acres, was sold to two partners of a private equity firm. This was a Janney family property, like Gregorie Neck Plantation. After purchasing the property, the owners undertook a complete rebuilding of all structures including the main house, a river house, stables, kennels, manager’s house and a number of guest cottages. The Huffines Company introduced the owners to the Lowcountry Open Land Trust, and helped negotiate a conservation easement that protects the property from development in perpetuity. The Huffines Company’s Managing Member founded the first Board of the Lowcountry Open Land Trust, and today the trust has protected over 80,000 acres in 13 counties. Today, Mackay Point Plantation is one of the Huffines Company’s management accounts.
